Gipsy Dutch pepper has a very early ripening period; it is not demanding in care. It has strong immunity, suitable for cultivation in the temperate climatic zone.
Jeepsey Pepper Seeds
mass of one fruit is about 110 g
The variety is characterized by uniform fruit size.
The origin of the hybrid jeepsi pepper
Homeland - Holland, imported to the Russian Federation by Seminis. The Gypsy hybrid cultivates excellently on our soil due to its characteristics, especially because of its early ripening. The hybrid was created in the early 2000s. Scientists wanted to develop a variety that was characterized by a super early period, strong immunity and resistance to weather changes, especially the onset of frost.
Characteristic and Description
Hybrid pods can already be added to dishes fresh two months after planting seedlings in the soil. To get an early harvest, seeds for the greenhouse are sown as early as February, and a pick because of a weak root system is not carried out.
Appearance of the bush and fruits
The plant is low, reaches about 0.6 m, not too branched. The stems are thin and can break due to the slightest mechanical damage. The roots do not go deep into the soil, they are practically on the surface (approximately 0.25 m). The leaves are small, wide, bright green in color.
The bush begins to bloom 2.2 months after sowing, the flowers are small in white, there are both female and male. Flowering continues almost to frost. The bush is self-pollinated, but cross-pollination is also possible.
Very often, Gypsy pepper is pollinated with bitter crops, and its taste becomes excessively sharp, so in order to avoid this, plants are planted away from each other (at least at a distance of 0.15 m). The pods are not very large, but have a beautiful shape. This hybrid is distinguished by the uniformity of the size of the entire crop, the mass of one is approximately 110 g.
The main signs of the fetus:
- the skin is not thick, but dense enough, which is good for transporting the crop;
- pepper in the shape of a cone, slightly tapering to the tip;
- walls about 5 cm thick;
- pulp with a characteristic crunch;
- has 3 cameras;
- yellow seeds.
Jeepsey pepper is considered technically mature when the fruit takes on a creamy yellow tint, fully ripens and turns red. Hybrid seeds are highly germinated - about 80%.
Taste qualities
Farmers are satisfied with the taste characteristics of these vegetables. The fruits are juicy, but not too watery, the skin is crispy, slightly sweet in taste. The fruit does not have bitterness or burning, everything is pretty standard. The aroma of vegetables is especially attractive, it is pronounced, full, characteristic pepper.
Productivity
The crop hybrid brings little, and this is not surprising. The reason lies in the fact that almost all early crops are not highly productive. Their main feature is that while the other vegetables are just starting to bloom and form ovaries, these plants are already pleasing with their fruits.
Jeepsey pepper allows you to collect from 1 square. m of about 4-4.5 kg of crop, respectively, about 12 pods are formed on one plant.
Growing conditions
The Gypsy hybrid does not differ in special care requirements, however, in order to accelerate the processes and obtain the best results, some nuances will have to be observed.
He likes to germinate in warm soil, so plant it on beds in the form of knolls of 0.5 m. Another nuance is that the bushes do not have dense foliage, therefore, in order to avoid burning pods in the sun, it is better to shade sprouts a little.
The timing
The timing of growing Gypsy depends on where you are going to grow bushes and when you plan to transplant in the open ground. If you are the owner of an excellent greenhouse, and you know that plants are not afraid of frost, then you can plant seeds for seedlings in early March, respectively, plant them in the greenhouse in the last week of April.
In this case, you will start harvesting from the beginning of summer, fruiting in good conditions for a plant lasts a long time, and it will bear fruit for about 2 months.
If you do not have a greenhouse or if you decide to plant seedlings directly in open ground, then you should wait a bit and sow the seeds in early April.
Capacity selection
Almost all summer residents say that Jeepsi pepper disgustingly transfers transplantation, and even more so a pick. The roots of the plant are sensitive and damage them simply to avoid this, plant the seeds directly in individual pots. Peat cups are an excellent option, especially since the seed material of Jeepsey pepper is not the cheapest and you do not want to damage the plants.
Substrate requirements
Jeepsey pepper is not particularly picky about the soil, but he likes to grow in loamy or sandy loamy soil with humus. The culture does not tolerate a large amount of nitrogen in the earth. Slightly acidic soil is not suitable for growing early varieties, so add chalk or lime to the soil to increase acidity.
You can choose to stop on a substrate for pepper or use the mixture to grow indoor plants. They are similar in composition, and this culture will be able to grow and develop in them.
Hybrid planting
You can grow peppers directly in the open ground, but it is better to use seedlings. Moreover, not every region can allow to plant seeds immediately in the ground.
Seed preparation and sowing
First of all, select the best from all seeds, they must be strong, without damage. Then soak them in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, high-quality seed will remain at the bottom, and a bad one will emerge. Rinse the remaining grains well under cold water and dry.
Sow the seeds in the soil mixture, cover with a film, place the containers in a warm place, the temperature should be about +25 degrees Celsius. Grains will germinate after 1-1.5 weeks.
Picking seedlings
As stated earlier, the stems and the entire root system of Jeepsey pepper are weak, so be careful and careful when picking. Damaging the sprouts is very difficult, after disruption of the roots the plants are no longer restored.
Experienced farmers recommend completely abandoning picking and all kinds of transplants. Sow each seed in a separate pot.
Seedling Care
As soon as cotyledon leaves are formed on the shoots, lower the temperature to +16 degrees, and at night lower to +12 degrees. Watch the moisture of the soil, do not let it dry. Pay special attention to top dressing seedlings. Spread the first fertilizer a week after picking the sprouts (if it was done). Use simple mineral components.
Apply the second fertilizer 10 days after the first. You can use the same thing as during the first time. You can use this tool: 2-3 tbsp. l ash + 1 liter of water, insist the mixture for 5 days. Before watering the plants, dilute it in a ratio of 1: 1.
The third fertilizer application is carried out 4 days before the direct sprouting of the sprouts in the open ground with finished top dressings, diluted according to the instructions.
Apply all fertilizers during irrigation: first add water, then the product, then water again. Such an algorithm will prevent sprouts from burns, especially if you make a mistake when dosing.
Hardening
During the cultivation of pepper seedlings, hardening is a must. In the afternoon, take the sprouts out into the fresh air, before the transplant, the plant should reach 0.2 m in height and have about 10 leaves.
Open transplant
It does not matter where the peppers will be grown - in open soil or in a greenhouse, during the transplantation they are necessarily tied to pegs or a special trellis.
Landing time
Transplanting seedlings into open soil is carried out at a time when the threat of winter frost completely disappears. Consider the fact that by this time the soil should warm up by + 15 ... + 18 degrees Celsius.
A sprout during a transplant may have several flower buds. Seedlings are 2 months old. If the sprouts have already reached 70 days, then all the flowers and buds are cut off from them, otherwise they will take root for a long time, and fruiting will come much longer than set. Seedlings with dense buds take root faster.
Seat selection and landing depth
Prepare a plot for planting pepper in advance. Dig the soil on the bayonet of the shovel, collect all the weed grass and apply top dressing. So that the seedlings do not receive sunburn, plant them in the afternoon or in cloudy weather.
Dig holes the size of the pot in which the plant is now located. Pour humus into the recess, make the distance between the pits about 0.4 m. To make it convenient to water and care for the pepper, you can drop it not in even rows, but in a checkerboard pattern.

Jeepsey Pepper Care Features
Jeepsey bell peppers do not need special care, however, some actions must be performed, only then you can get an early harvest.
Weeding and cultivation
Weeding is the destruction of all weeds that grow around and next to plants. Get rid of it without fail, as there are spores of fungi and various bacteria in the grass that can attack peppers at any time.
The growth of this culture is beneficially affected by loosening the soil. This event will saturate the soil with air, increase the supply of useful elements. Loosening is carried out after watering or rain.
The depth of cultivation directly depends on the development of pepper: before flowering - 6 cm, during flowering - 10 cm, at the beginning of fruiting - 14 cm, gradually decreasing to 6 cm.
Watering and feeding
The first time plants in open soil are watered at the time of their transplant. Water is introduced into the wells, seedlings are planted. After 4 days, watered again.
Before the fruiting period, the peppers are moistened once a week. As soon as the first fruits have set in, stop adding water. Resume before the second flowering begins.
Rules for watering pepper:
- Use only warm and settled water (+22 degrees and above).
- Water the plants in the morning or evening.
- Do not pour right under the root, do not erode the ground.
- 1 plant needs 2-2.5 liters of water.
A good harvest of Jeepsey pepper brings when it is fully provided with useful components. In the growing season, top dressing is applied 3 times.
- 20 days after the direct planting of plants in open soil (mineral fertilizers).
- At the beginning of fruiting (organic).
- 14 days after making the second top dressing.
The best nutrition for pepper:
- Infusion of herbs. Take 2 kg of various herbs, fill them with 10 liters of water and leave for 6 days for fermentation. Mix the resulting mixture with water (1:10) and water the plants with it.
- Chicken droppings. 250 g of organic matter and 10 l of water. Infuse the mixture for about 4 days, stir occasionally. Dilute 0.5 l of the product in 5 l of water, water the plant at a distance of 0.3 m from the trunk, do not directly fall on the foliage.
- Mineral fertilizing. Take superphosphate and urea (10 g each) dissolved in 10 liters of water. 1 plant needs 0.5 liters of funds.
Garter
Gypsy needs a garter. The branches of the plant are very weak, so they are badly damaged by the fruits and the wind. In order for the plant to rely on something, near each bush during transplantation, dig a support in the form of stakes 0.7 m high. There is no need to tighten the bush and support with fabric stripes, the plant should feel freedom.
In a greenhouse, peppers are tied with twine, the second end of which is fixed on the upper horizontal support.
Disease and Pest Prevention
Jeepsey pepper is resistant to tobacco mosaic, but it needs treatment from late blight, sclerotinia, bacterial spotting and rot. Preventive measures not only strengthen the immunity of pepper, but also increase the resistance of plants. For the treatment of various diseases, use peroxide, iodine and biofungicides.
Jeepsey pepper is affected by such pests: aphids, spider mites and whiteflies. To scare them off, you need to regularly spray plants with herbal infusions. Use wormwood, onions and potato tops.
To get rid of pests for a long time, use special insecticides such as Actellik and Aktara.

Reviews
Antonina, 42, cook, Kirsanov. Like jeepsi peppers, especially for early ripening. Buying pepper at the market is expensive at this time, and our family is already enjoying its harvest. It's great. Even the bushes do not grow very tall, we have the largest plant reached 0.6 m, so that you can grow not only in open ground, but also in the greenhouse. Not once in all the years of growing the bush was sick, even pests bypass it. The pods are all smooth, not very large, but tasty and fragrant. The only thing that I do not like is the need for garters; during this, the branches break and bend. Jeepsey pepper is very frail in appearance, and that year in general half of the seedlings died, the plants could not tolerate the pick. Now I land only in separate containers.
Oleg, 49 years old, builder, Krasnouralsk. My wife and I have a summer house, I built it myself, but my wife is engaged in the garden. So she decided 2 years ago to grow pepper, and even such that the crop brought in early summer. We decided to buy Gipsy seeds, and have never regretted it. Early ripeness is really his advantage. The pods are all smooth, beautiful, smooth. The taste is excellent. Not really true, I liked the general appearance of the plants, despite all the fertilizing, the bushes grew frail, the foliage was scarce, some even twisted. To decorate the garden, I would not recommend growing Jeepsi peppers, but to get a tasty and rich harvest - you better not find a variety.
